Womb Wellness

The term #WombWellness has become common. It can be seen dropped across social media platforms as often as the now publicly sacred term “Self-Care”. And like “Self-Care,” the real depth of its meaning can be overshadowed with hashtags, products, memes, tricks and glamour, becoming a cult instead of a lifestyle and a state of being.

Why We Massage The Womb

There is no new thing under the sun or in the womb. Massage has been used by many indigenous cultures since the beginning of time as an instinctive and intuitive healing modality.  Womb massage has been used by healers of women and it can be traced back to ancient African and Chinese cultures. It has recently been popularized by great marketing and success stories as Maya Abdominal Massage.   Truth be told though; Womb/Abdominal massage does not belong to one culture. Nor is it only beneficial for one type of woman.

Purpose of Chiropractic Care in Pregnancy

With the intent of supporting natural childbirth in the mid 1980’s, Larry Webster, DC, developed a chiropractic adjustment now called the Webster technique. The first and most significant observation of this adjustment was for women who were presenting breech during pregnancy. After they received the Webster adjustment, their babies turned head down. As a result, they were more likely to experience a natural childbirth that was safer and easier.
